Welcome To Croft Inc

CROFT Inc. (Community for the Restoration of Family Trust) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that has grown out of humble but dedicated beginnings.

In 1977, Bruce Harris a reformed alcoholic went onto the streets to get in contact with homeless people. He offered them understanding and acceptance and a place to stay. Bruce and his wife, Helen, established CROFT Inc. to pay back a societal debt they believed they owed for the trouble they caused when they were both chronic alcoholics.

Bruce himself had stayed in many places for the homeless and he wanted to give people who had fallen onto similar hard times a place which offered acceptance and support. Bruce dedicated the remainder of his life to providing homes and care for Perth’s homeless. CROFT now continues his work.

In 1982 CROFT Inc. became a registered charity and incorporated as an Association and is  run by a management committee comprising of local business people and residents.

From these origins, CROFT Inc. has established itself in its Inglewood complex that was officially opened on 26 August 1993. The block of units is little different to other blocks of residential units straddling the length of Beaufort Street. It consists of 7 self-contained units, a caretaker’s unit and an office. We provide crisis accommodation for up to 20 men and women on any given night.
